007 x 4

In four of the last five James Bond adventures, special effects supervisor John Richardson has acted as an off-camera Q' to the indomitable 007 — engineering a speedboat chase over a waterfall in MoonrakerMoonraker, flying a minijet through an aircraft hangar in OctopussyOctopussy, snaring a blimp on the Golden Gate Bridge in A View To A KillA View To A Kill and staging a massive ground and air battle in The Living DaylightsThe Living Daylights. Eschewing opticals in favor of full-scale physical effects or cleverly integrated miniatures, Richardson has earned a reputation worldwide as an effects artisan of consummate ingenuity and skill. Article by Nora Lee - from a 1987 issue of Cinefex Magazine.

Studios began selling a replica of Scaramanga's Gun for $675. I found this ad for it on the back of the December 1995 issue of Starlog Magazine... [More]

OHMSS - The 1976 ABC TV Version

18. June 2013 05:05 by m | 0 Comments

In 1976, ABC gave new meaning to the words "Edited for Television". Believing that the first hour of On Her Majesty's Secret ServiceOn Her Majesty lacked enough action to keep viewers from switching channels, they took it upon themselves to re-edit the movie, presenting action scenes from later in the film at the very beginning, and then "fixing" the continuity problems by adding a narrator. You have to see it to believe it. [More]
