Celebrity Bond Villains and Cameos

There have been a lot of headlines lately about celebrities wanting to be in the next James Bond film. John Travolta, Roger Moore (in his book, Bond on Bond), Ron Perlman, and even Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe have all expressed an interest in playing a Bond Villain. Personally, I'm not interested in seeing Travolta in a Bond movie at all, and I think Roger Moore has spent his entire career proving what a nice guy he is, so I don't think he would make a convincing lead villain - who would believe he was capable of such evil deeds? But he could certainly play one of the greedy financial backers behind Quantum - more of a cameo than a role, but it might work.

It would be easy to cast Perlman as a Jaws type henchman, but I think he has the acting chops and menacing physical presence to make a good Bond villain too, so if I were casting I would certainly consider him.

Radcliffe, however, intrigues me. Remember Edward Norton in Primal Fear (1996)? If you haven't seen it I won't spoil it for you, but if you have time it's worth checking it out. Something could be done with that, but it might lead Bond down a dark path. I don't think they've ever really had a really young, Evil, villain.

Nor have they really had a good female nemesis. Perhaps the head of the Quantum organization should be a woman. I know there have been female villains before, but they were just henchmen really - Rosa Kleb, Xenia Onatopp, even Electra King wasn't really a mastermind, she had stockholm syndrome. What if Eva Green returned? Playing Vespa's Evil twin sister sounds too much like a daytime soap, and not original at all, but you know she could play the villain and her striking resemblence to Vespa (if acknowledged) would certainly unnerve Bond... Diana Rigg could do it too. Maybe she and Blofeld faked Tracy's death, or... Nope, soap opera again. Ok, maybe she is just a new character - like Maud Adams returning for OctopussyOctopussy 9 years after her role in The Man With The Golden GunThe Man With The Golden Gun or Joe Don Baker appearing as a villain Whitaker in The Living DaylightsThe Living Daylights and then as CIA agent Jack Wade in GoldeneyeGoldeneye just 8 years later...

There was also talk as far back as GoldeneyeGoldeneye that Sean Connery might cameo as James Bond's Dad, and Connery himself expressed an interest, but added wryly that "They probably couldn't afford me!". Since he did such a good job as Indiana Jones's Dad, and was of course the original James Bond, that is something audiences would probably enjoy. Of course, in SkyfallSkyfall, we visited Bond's home and saw what were presumably the tomb stones of his parents, but what if his father had also been a spy too and had faked their deaths to protect young Jimmy??? In any case, if Connery (or Moore) are ever to make a cameo, it should be soon!

We'd love to hear who would you pick for a villain and why, comment below!
